Reader Reviews

Thank you to all my readers who were touched by the story. I wish every email I received and every comment were in reviews on Amazon, B&N, and Goodreads, but unfortunately they are not. Whatever I receive, I hold as encouragement to continue penning stories. A sampling of reviews for The Price of Innocence and The Price of Deception are below. If you'd like to write one yourself, feel free to do so in the comment section. My thanks to all my readers.

The Price of Innocence

Coffeetime Romance - 4 Cups

"Price of Innocence is an extremely well written book, with splendid dialogue. The characters and scenery are vivid in their descriptions and examples. Readers are shown numerous aspects of the plotline, giving the book a depth few first novels achieve. Characters, both good and bad, are reflections of the times and readers get to see the root causes of the characters’ behavior, preventing them from being caricatures."

Mama Kitty Review - 4.5 Stars
"The characters were well drawn out and the story was captivating. I loved The Price of Innocence and I can’t wait for the sequel."

Partial Sample of Reader Reviews
"I highly recommend this book for all those who like historical-novels, romance and a continuous pounding mellowing heart. The descriptions hurl the reader into the world of the late 19th century with ease, and you immediately fall in love with the innocence and the gracefulness of the main female character Suzette, with her budding search for happiness, love and a secure life. If you enjoyed Austen's protective and sheltered world, Hopkins gives the reader a tour to a more shady aspect of romance and life of young women who befall misfortune. The story of 'The Price of Innocence' captures your heart easily."

"It is clear that the author immersed herself into the period depicted in her first historic romance. Her research gave her the tools to paint a rich tapestry that is deeply detailed, depicting a realistic portrayal of the brutal world of Paris in the late 1800's. The story flows smoothly and takes you along on Suzette's struggle as she fights to survive in a cruel city that offers no hope for non-privileged women. You understand her gratitude to the man who gives her the chance to rise above her unfortunate situation, her ensuing love for him as he continues to protect her, and the desperation she feels when the truth of her situation is revealed. The author gives us rich, well-defined characters and makes us care about them, yet holds nothing back about the grim reality of a woman's place in a man's world. I look forward to the next book in the series!"

"The Price of Innocence will remain on my bookshelf as one of my all-time favorites. I began reading this book early evening one Saturday and didn't stop until I was finished, which was around 4:00 a.m. the next morning. I simply could not put it down. I loved the depth of the characters, the overall storyline, and even how the author began at a point further into the story, pulled back, and then returned the reader to that point and beyond. It lured me in and allowed me to immediately become intimately acquainted with the characters. The story moves well and is sprinkled with tasteful romance in what could have been some not so tasteful situations."

"I came upon this book by accident and the premise immediately intrigued me. What would you do if you where left homeless and with no other resources? Suzette is this predicament but when she least expects it she finds love. The character of Suzette drew me in because you get to experience her transition from innocent and hopelessness to a woman who sacrifices on many levels. I can't wait for the sequel to find out what happens to Suzette, Robert and Phillipe. I highly recommend this book."

The Price of Deception

"I am completely obsessed and can't put your book down. It's amazing!!!!!"

"The Price of Deception grabs you from the first page and never lets go as the characters come back together for a heartfelt novel full of twists and turns that keeps you guessing!"

"As a huge fan of The Price of Innocence, I knew the author had a huge task ahead of her when it came to creating a sequel that would meet my expectations. However, Vicki Hopkins has not only met my expectations.. but exceeded them!"

"I have been a fan of Ms. Hopkins' work for quite a while now and she has definitely delivered again with The Price of Deception. I love how the tension of the book remained constant throughout. Her characters were extremely well conceived and developed. I am already eagerly awaiting the conclusion of the Legacy Series with The Price of Love in 2012."
